Every new wrestler who enters WWE has to impress the audience to garner sustained success in the WWE. The impression a wrestler leaves the audience with, relies on their costumes and appearance as much as their other attributes, such as in-ring ability and mic skills.
While some all-time greats have made their costumes household property, due to their in-ring work, there also exist a few who became famous, due to their costumes as well. #50 New World Order
One of the biggest reasons the nWo became such a massive hit, was the transformation of Hulk Hogan, from the red and yellow superhero to a bonafide heel with aplomb. The black t-shirts became famous all over the world, and the bandanas, the black and white tones and the sunglasses, made the nWo some of the coolest villains in the history of WWE.

Rick Rude was one of the rare wrestlers whose in-ring attire was designed to play on the minds of his opponent. The Ravishing One’s top moment came, when he had an airbrushed image of Jake “The Snake” Robert’s wife, Cheryl on his rear end, much to his opponent’s distress.

Naomi’s latest outfit is one to behold as she wears a UV-reactive costume that glows when she enters the ring. Apart from her dress, her nails, lips and hair glow as well making it a unique attire on its own.
#47 Kamala
Kamala perfected the African mountain man gimmick, with the leopard-spotted loin cloth, face paint and adorning his upper body with two white stars and a yellow crescent moon. He wrestled barefoot to complete the look of the Ugandan giant.

A tag team built for putting over other tag teams, the Conquistadors, however, stood out because of their costumes. They covered themselves in gold lamé from head to toe, giving their gimmick a unique touch and topping Goldust in terms of amount of gold in their attire.

One of the most popular black wrestlers ever, Junkyard Dog’s trunks had the word “Thump” written on the rear. The combination of lock and chains around his neck, made his attire different from the regular ones making him stand out among his peers.

One of the weirdest costumes ever was worn by Vito, who wrestled in a dress. To amplify the weirdness, he carried a Chanel bag to the ring. He was committed to the gimmick to such an extent that he wore the costume when he was out of the ring as well.

Designing his look on Elvis Presley, Honky Tonk Man wore velour suits and carried a guitar along with him. Although his in-ring work was limited, he was completely committed to his character which ensures he is remembered by the wrestling community.

The Authority, represented by Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon and Director of Operations Kane wore formal black to grey suits with white shirts, to obtain the right look as owners of the company.

Jerry Lawler was referred to as “The King” and aptly his costumes carried a royal theme to them. He wore an opulent crown and robe, whose design were touched up with the right amount of gold, to make the gimmick credible instead of being over the top.

The self-proclaimed Boss dons an outlandish costume with pink hair, multi-coloured dress and shades. In order to show her Legit Boss status, she wears a multi-ring with the words ”BOSS” mentioned on them.
#36 The Boogeyman
One of the scariest attires in WWE, the Boogeyman used red and black paint on his face and body and wielded a staff that let out red smoke. To further the creepiness levels, he used to stuff worms into his mouth, after the match and spout them onto his opponent.

The twin sons of Rikishi, carried on the Samoan look of the family, with their coloured shorts and the face paint to go with the customary tattoo and long hair. Jimmy and Jey Uso had a crowd-friendly outfit that went down well right from their debut.

A part of Team Xtreme, Jeff Hardy is famous for his risky performances in ladder matches, making him a freak who does not care for his body. His dyed hair, piercings and attire only confirm that fact and were aptly designed for the high-flyer.
#33 Dusty Rhodes
No wrestler can ever pull off the black costume with yellow polka dots, better than “The American Dream”, who wore that along with knee pads and the signature “Bionic“ elbow pad during the time he worked with Vince McMahon.
#32 Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat
The Dragon persona was one of the most audacious attires ever, with Ricky Steamboat dressed up like a flying Dilophosaurus from the Jurassic era, and spewing fire on entering the ring. It was definitely not one of his best attires, but an eye-catching one for sure.
#31 Stardust
Following in the footsteps of his elder brother Goldust, Cody Rhodes, created the Stardust persona with face paint, a bodysuit with huge stars on it and personality similar to that of his brother. His commitment to the gimmick, allowed him to do some of his best work in this persona.
#30 Doink the Clown
One of the most memorable characters ever created in WWE, Doink literally dressed up as a clown with green hair, face paint and multi-coloured tuxedo. A flower on his jacket spouted a foreign substance into opponent’s eyes as well, which added to the gimmick.
#29 Razor Ramon
WWE created a classic Tony Montana look in Razor Ramon, who dressed up in a good-looking vest, slicked back hair with a strand of hair curled on his forehead. His accessories were chains on his neck and a toothpick, which Ramon went on to use to make the character a legend.
#28 The New Day
Edging closer to the record of Demolition as the longest-reigning tag team champions, the New Day, are one of the most over stables in WWE. The blue “Booty-Os” outfit of the New Day, coupled with the ever-accompanying trombone, make an interesting attire for the current tag team champs.
#27 Demolition
Demolition was a result of Vince McMahon trying to recreate the Road Warriors before they signed up with WWE. The red and silver face paint made the leather outfit with spikes even more menacing as Demolition went on to become Tag Team Champions for the longest period in WWE history.
#26 The Legion of Doom (Road Warriors)
Widely regarded as the greatest tag team in professional wrestling history, The Legion of Doom comprised of Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal. Their supremacy stemmed, not only from their success inside the ring but also from their intimidating attire which consisted of mohawks, face paint and giant spikes through football shoulder pads.

Mick Foley in his many different personas carried the common man look with his costumes as he became WWE’s hardcore legend. The hair and beard along with the black and red checkered attire remains his most famous attire.

A character with the potential to succeed the Undertaker, Wyatt’s long beard, hat and vest is one of the best costumes of the Reality Era. The rocking chair and the lantern only intensify the creepy image of “The Eater of Worlds”, which he portrays to perfection.

One of the most popular tag teams ever, The Dudley Boyz are known for their in-ring attire, as much as they are known for their love for putting opponents through tables. Triple H put on a good number of impressive costumes in WWE. However, nothing beats the “King of Kings” attire he donned for Wrestlemania XXX with a skull mask and sitting on the throne. Like the Game himself, that costumes exuded power and dominance.

Balor is one of the most respected wrestlers in the world, and his Demon King persona is an eerie and scary one. The face and body paint give a mystical aura to Balor, driving fear into his opponents even before the start of the match.

One of the greatest high-flying wrestlers of all time, Rey’s masked costume represented his Hispanic heritage. One of his finest costume moments was the Aztec warrior attire he donned, that added further appeal to the Master of 619.
#8 The Shield
The Shield became the most dominant faction in WWE in an extremely short period of time. Right from their entrance through the crowd, the Hounds of Justice, looked like SWAT agents dressed in all-black, with kevlar vests that completed the look and ensured people realise they meant business.
#7 Bret Hart
Bret Hart could easily be credited for making the colour pink more masculine, by wearing a bright pink spandex decorated with black and white hearts, and shades. The Hit Man is one of the few wrestlers who are solely associated with a particular colour and this in itself is one of his great achievements.
#6 Stone Cold
One of the simplest costumes ever designed turned iconic by one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. A simple vest with a skull and black boots, was all that Steve Austin required to go along with his bald look and look like an absolute badass.
#5 Randy Savage
Randy Savage’s attire exuded extravagance in every sense, be it the choice of colours which were usually bright or the flashy accessories that rested on the Macho Man’s body. The cape, headbands and hats made Savage’s look a special one in WWE.
#4 John Cena
The most polarising star in WWE also has one of the most recognisable outfits in WWE. The jeans shorts, the various coloured neon wristbands and the baseball cap, with his phrase of “You Can’t See Me” on it, have been household property for the past decade.
#3 Ric Flair
The “Naitch” is well-known for his uber-rich look with custom-made robes he wore to the ring. These robes with all their intricate designs apparently cost “more than your house” and suited well for his portrayal of the bad boy persona.
#2 Hulk Hogan
The Hulkamania is undoubtedly one of the key reasons WWE is at its current position. His red and yellow hues became synonymous with wrestling all over the world in the ‘80s and ‘90s and the Hulkster is still cherished in the present day.
#1 The Undertaker
The Deadman costume that induces creeps, as well as goosebumps, every time the Undertaker steps into the ring is one of the greatest costumes ever created. The all-black costume complete with the black trench coat and black hat in its many iterations maintains the basic theme, while perfectly complementing the mortician persona.
