He was the first host of Saturday Night Live in 1975 and is widely regarded as the greatest stand-up comedian of all time. During his career, he released 14 stand-up comedy specials for HBO and was the first host of Saturday Night Live. In 2008, he received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, which was given to him posthumously.
