On November 30, 2021, Canha signed a two-year contract worth $26.5 million with the New York Mets, with the option for a third year. Canha’s journey with the Mets faced a brief setback in April 2022 when he was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. However, he made a prompt return on April 20, 2022.
