A Kmart shopper’s clever organising fix has started a debate over how toilet paper should be stored, after she posted a photo of her loo roll storage solution.

The mum purchased a Over The Door Basket Organiser from the retail store to stock her toilet paper on the back of her bathroom door.

She took the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook page to showcase her bathroom storage solution with 30 rolls of toilet paper stacked inside the shelves.

“Got this shelf for in the pantry, it didn’t fit,” she said on the social media page.

“Decided to put it behind the toilet door for spare rolls it works only issue is the door doesn’t open all the way now.

“With a large family someone is always calling out for toilet paper. With boys I hate anything on the floor next to the toilet!”

Many praised the mum’s innovation while others questioned whether storing toilet paper in open shelves was hygienic.

“I cringe at naked rolls of toilet paper,” one person wrote.

“Some people don’t close the lid as they flush, and I just think of the poo/wee particles etc flying out and landing on the paper.

“The toilet paper just stays in its original packaging in the cupboard less chance of it becoming contaminated that way.”

Another wrote “There are many more discrete and attractive ways of having toilet paper in the loo.”

Other users wondered why one family would need so many rolls of toilet paper.

Several mothers defended the storage aproach and supported the creation.

“Some of you guys really need to educate yourselves and think before you judge people,” one mum said.

“I buy a 48-roll pack and there’s only me and my partner but what you don’t see is that I have a bowel disease, as do many others, and you can never have enough toilet paper.”

“My four girls would use that in 3 days!” Another said.

A third mum wrote “I understand this so much! We are family of seven and I buy 32 pack every two weeks”.
