WHEN it came to renovating their cottage in Brisbane, swim champion and The Biggest Loser host Hayley Lewis and her husband Greg Taylor dived into the deep end.

Rather than just a superficial makeover and a small extension, they agreed to strip the home back to its bare bones and start again in a fusion of traditional Queenslander architecture with a Hampton holiday home.

“We looked for a year for a house but we couldn’t find one that ticked all the boxes,” Lewis said.

“I have always loved this type of house with a Hampton-type feel ever since I saw the Jack Nicholson movie Something’s Gotta Give with Diane Keaton and she lived in a beautiful beach house with a whole Hampton look, it is something I have loved.”

Architect Claus Ejlertsen from Baahouse + Baastudio said the Hampton-style sat well alongside the traditional Queenslander.
