He was his parents’ first child to have been born in the United States.
He spent his childhood years in South Bay, Florida.
During his time being a part of the Florida State Seminoles, Wayne Messam was included in the 1993 national championship team and caught 62 passes for 793 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Despite his interest in the game, he was not selected in the 1997 NFL Draft. Later, he signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent.
Cincinnati Bengals released him on August 4, 1997.
He assumed office as the 10th Mayor of Miramar on April 1, 2015.
Initially, Wayne Messam reacted to the reports stating that he was considering a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 citing that “all options will remain on the table.” Later on, he announced his candidacy for the presidential run on March 28, 2019.
The first quarter donations for his presidential campaign amounted to $43,531. The campaign was unable to receive many donations and suffered a lack of funds.
Wayne Messam wrapped up his presidential campaign on November 20, 2019, because he did not qualify for any Democratic debate as well as he was not classified as a “major candidate” by outlets such as FiveThirtyEight.
